Poverty the leading cause of abortion

FEMINISM - Here is some interesting statistics from the United States regarding abortion:

Black women are three times more likely to have an abortion and Hispanic women are twice as likely to have an abortion.

73% of women who have abortions are living below the poverty level (earning $9,570 or less per year).

75% of women who have abortion cite lack of money to raise a child as one of their reasons for having an abortion.

33% of all women who have abortions are between the age of 20 and 24.

So really, when you look at the statistics what you realize is that POVERTY, not rape, is the leading cause of abortions in the United States.

Shouldn't anti-abortionists be doing more to get rid of poverty? If we simply got rid of poverty the abortion rates would drop significantly.

Between 1990 and 1995 the abortion rate in the USA dropped 20%. Why? Because in 1990 we were in a recession. After Bill Clinton got into power he made some changes, the economy got really good and the abortion rate dropped significantly. Now thanks to George W. Bush being incompetent the American economy is in a new recession and Barack Obama has to help fix it. If Obama can get the economy back on track poverty and abortion rates will go down again.

But will anti-abortionists care or notice? If they spent half as much time and effort trying to get rid of poverty Americans wouldn't need so many abortions.

I've tried logic with the pro-birth people but you can't rationalize with the irrational. I call them "pro-birth" because I think that's what it really boils down to: they insist on birth - but once the baby can breath on its own, it is on its own. One woman told me "I'm pro-life NOT pro-quality of life". So, it's okay for them to be born and suffer, I guess. They talk about speaking out for the helpless so I pointed out that newborns (and infants, and toddler, etc..) are pretty helpless - how about some govt funding for them? Oh, no! That's socialism! But on Tuesday we beat those people out. Now with Obama and the Dem takeover, maybe we can make some progress toward taking care of the born.

I understand why you could believe that "KB", but you see, in my perspective, pro-life doesnt only mean let the child live it means you understand the fact that God created the baby in the womens womb(In the bible, it states" Psalms 139:13-16: For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be".) so the baby is a real human once conception takes place. I can understand if a family cant afford the baby, the best choice is to either trust that God will help you get the money and pray or put the baby up for an adoption. It is really sad how many children are in an adoption home but don't you think its better knowing your child is alive and living then knowing your a murderer of your own child...aren't you glad your mom let YOU live!?! =D
